Tired 380 - a gasket question

When I remount the intake manifold, what type of sealant do I use? The old engine manual says a 1/4" drop of "Rubber Sealer." That's between the side gaskets and the front and rear gaskets on the intake manifold. I've used Permatex Red on GM engines and that worked okay. Can I use that here or is there something better?

Side note: Engine heads seem to weigh a lot more as I have gotten older.

Silicone the ends of the manifold gaskets, like you do with a Chevy.

I'm also doing the exhaust manifolds as part of this project. They weigh 52 lbs. each so I expect to be walking a little funny for a while.
