Hello, just noticed this pin sticking out.I checked the parts diagram, and there isn't another cotter pin that goes behind it. Its tapered and has a collar. My question is, should that be tapped in flush? there is a hole on the other side of that, but the pin isn't through that. 2004 Mercury Optimax 225. Thanks!

Ideally the the pin head should be flush and a portion of the pin should extend through the opposite
end of the hole in the ram. The pin has an interference fit which holds it in place. Unfortunately if the pin needs to be removed it can be a little frustrating as there is little if any access to drive it out from the back side.
