throttle control button

Not real familiar with Mercury throttles , but , isn't the knob on the lever supposed to pull out to throttle the engine without being in gear ? This is on a SunTracker Party Barge Pontoon . Thank you for any insight on this .

Merc did not make that, ,that I recall. But yes the knob should pull out.

Thanks timebandit . I'll have to check the innards of the control to see what's siezed up . I had one similar to this type on a ski boat with a Mercruiser , it's hard telling who the manufacturer was . I'll report back when I correct the problem .
