Thermostat for 1995 Evinrude 48 special

1995 Evinrude 48 Special E48ELSEOS (on tag)

well the pisser wasn't working the other day and I didn't catch it. ran the boat a few tenths of a mile and notice decreased performance so I shut the motor down. Motor was really hot and the hard black plastic cover for the thermostat had popped out. Think it might have been caulked in and screwed in.

Anyway, I looked at my manual and it shows a different thermostat cover than what I have. the manual shows a bolt on with several holes in it.

My tstat looks like this one

the thermostat had a # on it of 433378 but I can't find that item anywhere. could anyone help me with finding the right tstat and cover?

could someone have used and older head on that motor?

should an alarm have gone off to warn me? the temp sensor is right next to the thermostat. Maybe a buzzer is broken????

this is a basic pontoon setup. no gauges.

Turn the key to the ON position and then ground the wire that attaches to the sender, don't disconnect it just slide the cover back and ground the connector to the block. The horn should sound off it is operating properly.
