Temperature Gauge Not Getting Signal

I replaced my 1993 Mercury 150 hp Black Max 2 stroke engine with a 2023 Mercury 150 hp Four Stroke engine. The engine runs great and the speedometer, tachometer, and voltmeter work fine. My temperature gauge is not getting any signal (it worked fine with the old engine). An 8 pin to 14 pin adapter was used. Does anyone know why the new engine might not be sending a signal to the temperature gauge.
