ok guys I have a 2000 70hp jhonson the original tach warning lights stopped working. The tachometer always read around 5800 wot with a 13x19 prop.So I ordered a new faria tachometer and it would read around 4800 wot. I thought maybe the new tachometer was bad so i sent it back to faria. They sent it back saying they recalibrated it. So I tried the 13x19 prop again it would still only read 4800. I changed the prop to a 13x17 and it reads the same 4800. So im kinda confused on what could be going on

Call Jason B. Clark Technical Manager for Faria at 1-800-473-2742 Ext 1229
My tach was brand new and needed to be calibrated. I have a 13 1/2 x 17 and it reads a touch over 5k. If you call Him he will do what it takes to get you fix up my motor is 75 hp in the video I have on this forum I have a 70hp cover

That sounds way off.
My Johnson 90 hp will spin a 13x19 up to 5000, and a 13x17 up to 5500.
Perhaps try another tachometer that is known to be working correctly, and go from there.

Should be a switch on the back how is it set.

Many people will say put it on number 6 in the back of the tach but I was surprised when the tec told me mine should be on number 5 call the Faria at 860-848-9271they will tell you quickly what number to be on. Dont forget the weight in your boat will lower RPM. Understand the prop grabs the water not cuts through. weight issue

The main thing that got me is both props read the same rpm right at 4800. I would've thought the 17 wouldve read higher then the 19. Il call faria monday and see what they say

Yea give them a call.. Different props have to show a difference. It always does
