Syntheic moter oil use 1998 4.3 L

IO is a cobra 1998 4.3 L. I was looking at the service manual and it states use of multi-viscosity oils such as 10w-30 is not recommended. Are people using these today and also synthetic oils in the engines? In the past have always used old dino W30.

straight 30 weight, it's what i use, cheapest wally world chit i can find.

Mines a 86'.

30, or 25w40 or 20w50 whatever is on sale

use synthetic if you want, but use the recommended viscosity.- no 5w or 10w unless you boat in the winter

25 or 30 hours of use in the summer probably doesn't warrant the expense of a jug of synthetic, but the economics are a personal choice
