Guys, hope I can get some help. I purchased a boat with a 2003 200hp Evinrude/Ficht Ram Injection motor. The seller gave me this big long spiel about how the EMM needed to be reset. After taking the lower unit apart and replacing the water pump, changing the crankcase oil, plugs etc., I put the boat in the water and off I went. Idled like a dream got out to throttle up and after 3000rpm the motor started surging and would not pick up speed. The check engine light came on but when I throttled down to 3000 light went out.
Seller stated that the motor would go into limp mode when up to temp. I observed no limp mode, all six cylinders were firing and with 3 degrees of each other. So I do not believe a reset of the EMM is requires.
