what is the bilge blower for ? do i need it ?

pumps out fumes from the engine capartment, yes you need it. Supposed to run it for 4 minutes before you start the motor.

In Aviation we say, no question is a stupid question. It may save your life.
The bilge blower is intended to remove carbon dioxide, toxic or flammable vapors from the bilge area, primarily the lowest area in your engine compartment.
Many a boats have blown up due to these areas not being vented properly.
The suction hose needs to be at the lowest point, that is where these fumes settle. It is best to exit the blower where in a non occupied side or end of the vessle. Dont want to poison those kids playing off the stern deck.
And last, use a large enough blower for your bilge/engine compartment size. Dont go cheezy on this one, it could prevent a disaster.
