"I put a new waterpump kit in my alpha 1 and it is staying nice and cool but now I have oil leaking out in the front where the shift shaft is. Did,nt before I replased the water pump did I ding a seal or something going back in? Thanks"

You didn't have the shift shaft out did you?

Regardless, the shift shaft seal can be replaced without case dissassembly, though you will have to pull the drive.

"Not likely the water pump replacement had anything to do with it, I would replace the shift shaft seal, which means dropping the lower half of the drive again. The nut can be removed with improvised tools, But the merc tool works best."
