I just got a 1975 15hp Johnson, model # 15R75C, with a broken rope, real cheep. I got into it and need to replace some parts, no surprise there. I was inspecting the main bolt and it seems to be canted a bit to the rear, and the threads look like they were crossed, so, the question I have is what is the best way to correct it if it is crossed? I could machine a replacement bolt with the next size larger thread, or, J-B Weld it with a release agent on the bolt proper threads, or, could get one of those thread repair helicoils, I am open to suggestions and instructions on how too, thanks in advance to all comments.
