i have a 1974 chrysler 75 hp, the guy i got it from said i would have to tap on the starter occasionally to get it to engage, well i have to tap it all the time, also, the motor kicks up in reverse, i've included a pic, there seems to be some parts missing that would keep this from happening, can the piece in the pic be replaced?IMG_2046.jpg
Take the starter apart and clean it.It will probably be full of old carbon from the brushes.Or get it rebuilt.Any starter shop can do that.
The parts look like they are missing on the lock. [email protected]
