sometimes I hate my boat

Hi guys, I have a 1990 2.3 l omc cobra with a ford engine , it is hard to start. Last night went out and drove around about 20 min and then chilled for an hour. started good ( does once warm) then off again for a ride, about 30 min into the ride, the motor seems to just shut down. I let it sit a couple minutes and then after working the throttle as I was turning it over it started, ran about 5 minutes then as I was powering down to enter the marina, it bagged out again. I put a new distributor on it a couple weeks ago, and that was when it became hard to start, before that, even with the old distributor with NO BUTTON at all left, the motor started with a turn of the key and purred. Thoughts? thanks guys

So what are you missing fuel or spark ?

Pull one wire off a plug insert a spare plug and hold to the block crank the engine see a spark ?

Use a rubber coated pliers don't get shocked.

I put the muffs on last night and run the motor in the driveway, so i know there is spark. I did notice that the coil gets very warm, not hot, but more then warm too.
