The valve between the tank and carburator on a 1946 5HP Johnson TD-20 engine leaks. I'm trying to find a shut off value part or a kit, something to be able to stop the leak. Online parts searches have yielded no results. Any suggestions?

Is it a push pull tap with a cork.

If so this trick from the British Seagull Saving-old-Seagulls website might work.

My fuel tap leaks, do I need a new one?
No, I doubt it. I expect the tank is empty and the cork has dried out. First Aid. Remove the small screw carefully in the side of the tap, (brass taps, not plastic ones!), take out the plunger with the cork on it. If it has not badly split, place it in an old cup and pour boiling water on it!!! Or better still put it in 2" of water in an old pan and boil it for 10 minutes. The effect is to soften and swell the cork. After 10 minutes or so remove it and dry it, then grease it and replace. That should fix it.

New corks are available for those but some enterprising souls have also managed to replace the corks with several O rings.
