"Hi. The shift cable broke in

"Hi. The shift cable broke in my 290 right by the rod with the adjust threads. What is the best way to replace it? Taking off the outdrive and replacing the sheathing and everything, or can I snake a fresh cable through? I foolishly put the nut on the wrong side of the adjuster and it spun forward. Thats why it broke I think."

"Replace the whole cable, but

"Replace the whole cable, but you don't need to remove the outdrive. Just remove screw 36, then remove cable attachment tab 35 and the cable slides out. The link is for a 275 but the 290 is identical.
