shift cable adjustment, m40d

Hi, hoping to get a little help on this. Shifter not shifting fully into reverse.
I have verified that the reverse gear does engage by manually pushing down on the shift rod.
When shifting into reverse, the cable does not push far enough, by a good 3/8" or so.
I can't really see how to adjust the cable.
any thoughts?

Verify the gates are engaged at both ends of the cable. Disengage clevis at shift arm on motor. Set motor and control to N. Loosen locknut on clevis, and adjust to zero interference when engaging the shift arm. Reinstall R pin to retain.
