Good evening
I was given a 1978 70hp outboard by a friend who just wanted it out of his shop. Said it ran fine about 5 years ago. He stored it in his shed without starting it for all that time and it has frozen or seized up from no use. I removed the spark plugs and sprayed PB Power blaster into the cylinders and let sit for a week . I put a socked and breaker bar on the crank nut up top and got the motor to turn until it reached the bottom of the stroke and stopped. More PB blaster waited a few days and tried turning again by hand. It moved a little however I am not sure how much torque I can apply by hand with a breaker bar and socket. I do not want to strip or shear off the stud or whatever that nut is attached to.
Any thoughts or Info???
