Runs only 1 cyl

I"m a new member and thanks for accepting me never been on any before but Happy to be here, I have a 1987 40 hp evinrude that runs like new on the bottom cyl,put hand over top cyl nothing happens until gas in top cyl kills it with fuel and when I remove my hand gas comes out, compression 145 each cyl. I switched coils and same thing, spark is strong on both plugs. tried a different carb off another engine -same result I'm 81 and have worked on several engines as I have a river camp but this has me completely at a loss.. Any help will be greatly appreciated. THANKS Dally

What fuel pump is on this motor ?/-----VRO ( auto mixing ) or something else ?

mix oil with gas, Thanks,I did try another set of carbs and it ran fine both cyl's for about 15 min then same thing again. really has me bufflowed..
