Running on ear muffs for a long time

Will it hurt the engine to id

Will it hurt the engine to idle with the ear muffs on for an extended period of time? I want to run it for 30 to 45 minutes the next couple of weekends to try to burn some fuel through the engine (I've been working on it) but I don't know if the ear muffs will be ok for the rest of the lower unit..any help will be great!

"Robert.... As long as the water supply is sufficent, it doesn't matter where the water is coming from.... as long as it is being delivered to the water pump first, as such is the case using ear muffs.
