Hi
Have a new Vortect 5.7 fro

Hi
Have a new Vortect 5.7 from Michigan motorz. Are there any need to retighten the cylinders heads?
If so after how many hours?
I couldn't find any information in the information following the engine and the selco manual is not mentioning anyhting either.

"If it is new and under warranty, you'd be better off to let Michigan motorz put their wrenches on it, else you could void the warranty. They should be able to tell you what after sale maintenance is required.

Is it 'new' or just new to you and how many hours does it have on it?"

The main quation is; are you normally after tightening the cylinder heads? If so after how many hours. It should be the same for new and overhauled engines."

"I got my 5.7 Chevy pre-Vortec rebuilt a couple of years ago. When I picked-up the engine I asked your same question, and the shop owner specifically mentioned there is no need to retorque the heads. That guy overhauls and builds engines for a living, and many of the engines rebuilt in his shop are for racing."
