I decided that while I have everything apart (replacing Mount Frame) I would replace my Teleflex steering. My outer housing on the cable has split in one spot and looks to be near it's end.
Installation looks straight forward except for how the shaft gets sealed/lubricated inside the tilt tube. The Starboard side is more or less sealed with the shaft collar threaded over the tilt tube. The Port side looks to be completely open, any lube (grease) would just seep out and water could easily seep in.
My current setup has an interesting piece on the Port side. It looks like it acts as a seal and has a grease zerk to lube the steering shaft. I expected this piece to come with the new steering, but it does not. Is this an optional part? Any ideas what it is called or where I could get a new one?
