remote box on 1977 85hp evinrude outboard

i am replacing throttle and shifter cables but the problem is that it is asking me to put the warm up lever in START POSITION before putting cable in remote box. i cant do that because the remote box is not marked START on the remote box. can u help me as i dont want to play try and error upon instilation of cables and have several kinks on cables thank u

Maybe I'm forgetting something, but I don't recall any reason for such a statement.
