Recommendations for bilge pump

i had to pull the engine out of a 2002 24ft searay to replace the cool fuel pump assembly and want to change out the the bilge pump/float system since they are non accessible with the engine in place. the boat has a rule pump 1100gph with a Rule a matic plus float switch. this unit is original and 20 years old. is this still the best unit for my application? i do not want to have to pull the engine again just for a bilge pump. .

I would:

install the 1100 at the rear of the transom, extend just the pump wires

instal a 1500 or 1800 in the front with a new float switch

wire the pumps together to to the auto switch

Reason being any water flows to the rear under acceleration . if deep enough is will spray into the starter from the flywheel. You activate a manual switch then to pump it out.

Had to reinstall new but same model (20 yr) pump and modern auto switch due to pump height restrictions under engine, so beware
