Hey Guys
Thanks for your help so far, I have been thinking hard about how this raw water system works and am a little stumped. Hoping for some insight. First of all will someone please confirm that this is the way the thermostat is suppose to be installed.

If so when the thermostat is in the closed position what hose is it blocking if any? And when it opens up/warms up does it block one hose or both? Or which one?

When closed and cool the water flow will be out the top. When hot and open the t-stat will open and close off the top and the flow will go out the lower port. Have you checked the t-stat operation in a pan of hot water?

Is the oil cooler for the engine or trans? By the look of things it would be very low water flow when the engine is up to temp.

You can always tell which way the t-stat goes if you locate the wax pellet that opens it and place it aiming at the water coming into the t-stat housing.

That's the freaky, dual pocket pump that Einstein would have trouble figuring out! Good luck.
