After 20 minutes of run time in a can the lower unit is coated with thick oil. Water is full of thick oil also. Can't see any leak. Assuming prop shaft seal. Is it hard to change?

It may be unburned fuel rather than LU lube. You can check to see if there is any water in the LU but it is common to see oil on the water in a barrel.

What bullie said x2. Running in a can always produces that glop from the exhaust. It is the oil that you put in the gas. Get it out of that bucket and onto a boat on the lake where it was designed to run. You will see a marked difference.

It doesn't hurt to check lower gear case oil n see if water is in it, I change my gear oil every fall before winter
