"evinrude 40 hp1986 model had problem with primer solenoid choke leaking when choke activated , replaced red manual valve which was cracked . this fixed the leaking problem i also replaced gasket and valve seat with new ones which where slightly different to the original ones.Original ones where in 2 pieces new one was in 1 piece molded together. but when i put the new ones in the solenoid would not work.But with original gasket and valve seat back in it works perfect. Maybe the valve plunger or some other parts might have to be changed also.has any one experienced this problem or can any one offer some advice
