pressure build up in bravo 3 outdrive

I had the alarm beeping and my temp and oil pressure guages were fine. I then checked the drive oil reservoir to see if it was low. what I found was that the level was higher then when we started. When I removed the reservoir cap oil started to run out. what would cause this to happen?

The pressure in the drive can reach 13+psi. Were you running for an extended period of time?

No, I was running @2800 rpm for 20 min or so
