Power steering failure

2000 5.0 GL VP engines. Power steering failure. Port side reservoir empty...bilge full of fluid. I can see something leaking behind the port engine torward the transom. Thinking of fixing myself but would like to know what is back there that could be the culprit (hose, gasket, and such). Is there anyone intimately knowledgeable about what power steering components reside behind engine that is mostly leaking the fluid. I would like to fix before this weekend if possible.

Look up the schematics for your boat on Volvo's website. They're pretty detailed. Also, do you have the Seloc repair manual for your boat? Two good resources for you.

Power steering oil cooler comes to mind!
This is on the low pressure side of the system... but a hose connection may be leaking.
Perhaps even the cooler itself has a corrosion issue.

Next may be the slave valve, or cylinder itself, or a hose connection at this same area.

Go here, and look up your model engine/drive. Then go to Power Steering components.
