Possible crack

While changing water pump I see this on water pump base, is this broken or is this space supposed to be there??

Thank you, it took a load off my mine, thought that was why that after replacing water pump, I still have no water coming out pee hole. Must be thermostat, replacing it tomorrow because hoses are not blocked.

Well I did pull it back apart to check this and yes key is intact, still no water, I removed thermostat and nothing, poured water down into block, never forced water out but lot of water running down under engine, started motor and did gargle but no steady water coming out, cracked block possible???? Please don't tell me yes just got this 1 month ago. Going to do compression check now, will update.

Compresson checks Top to Bottom #1 85 #2 80 #3 70 I don't think this is good!!!!
