could someone tell me the poi

could someone tell me the point gap on a "62" johnson 40 h.p. also which coil goes to what cyl. one is green and one is yellow. I got this motor and it was already torn apart.

" Dave.... The point gap setting is .020 . Set the gap by having the fiber portion of the points lined up with the crankshaft key.

The coil closed to the front of the timer base (armature plate), that is closest to the carburetor, is the top cylinder ignition coil.

Notice where the coils sits on that aluminum armatuire plate... there is a very slight bevel to the top of that aluminum seat. Install the coil(s) so that the vertical portion of the metal yoke of the coil aligns with the inside top portion of that bevel. This gives the coil the proper clearance between the coil and the flywheel magnets.
