Anyone with experience bolting

Anyone with experience bolting prop shaft to vee drive coupling on a Paragon PV series.

The coupling on the vee drive is threaded and I can't tell if it is coarse or fine thread. Can't get a tap in to test it. Fine thread bolts start but won't go in far. Coarse thread bolts go in farther with encouragement from a wrench but won't go all the way through.

Questions

1) Is the thread in these couplings usually coarse or fine thread?

2) Are bolts supposed to go all the way through and then have nuts attached or are they to "bottom out" in the coupling and not go all the way through?

"just took out my starboard side shaft and I had 4 bolts with fine thread and no nuts you also have two square head screws that bit the shaft and my shaft had a recess about 1/8 to 1/4 deep in the shaft to accept the screws tip,we used a wheel puller to get it off,you want a tight fit, also you need to face off the coupling before you install to help with any vibration"
