OVERHEATING AT SLOW DOWN SPEED

SUNSEEKER 31

New member
I have a 1994 Sunseeker with twin fresh water heat exchanger cooled 502's with DPXR outdrives. The port runs at 170 and stays there alll day. The starboard runs at 175 but runs up to 190 -200 when I slow down coming into to a five mile zone. I have new manifolds and risersm raw water pumps, new heat exchangers and new hoses and we acid flushed the oil and PS cooler.

Will emptying the antfreeze, draining the block and flushing it help find the hot spots and clean them out and what flush would anybody recomend? I heard vinegar and water, dish soap, just plain water etc.

Any ideas?

Check for a vacuum leak in the fitting on the drive that the cooling water hose connects to. These parts are prone to both gasket failure and pinhole leaks in the elbows themselves...

That and perhaps test the thermostat & pressure cap, & make sure all the air is bled out of the heat exchanger
