I need a lower unit for my 83 Wellcraft with a 898 in it. I found one for sale and the seller says it will only fit 1991 and newer boats. Does anyone know anything about year applications? The lower unit is beat on my boat and I found a good deal. I just want to make sure its the same thing. My buddy says an alpha 1 is an alpha 1. I'm new to mercruisers (I'm kinda green to boats in a whole). Any help is appreciated.
