outboard fuel tank question

I've got a small 3 gallon tank that has a Mercury fitting on the motor end and has always been used on a 4-stroke motor (pic attached). If I wanted to use this tank for a 1999 15hp Evinrude 4-stroke, can I simply cut the Mercury line at the tank end, remove the clamp, and attach an Evinrude fuel line with a new band clamp right were I cut it?

As long as you have a connector that matches the motor on the motor end, it doesn't matter what the gas tank connector is.

That "laminated" fuel line may fail you someday, especially if it's out in the sun and using ethanol. Try to keep plastic tank out of the elements and hot sun, whenever possible. I certainly don't condone using ethanol in anything except your "daily driver" car or truck.
