Out drive gear ratiowhat should i buy

"i been looking on ebay for a whole outdrive but i noticed different ratio's.150:1,165:1195:1. i assume i have the 165:1 since i have a 1971 mercruiser 165hp straight six cylinder.what would happen if i put the 195 on."

The 1.50:1 is used with V8 motors,....
Or possibly the 1.65:1 in High altitude/ low horsepower applications.....
The V6,+ the I6 usually use the 1.65:1 or the 1.84:1,....
Again depending on the application......
The Ole 470s used the 1.84:1 most of the time.....
And,........
The 1.98:1 is used for the GM I4s,+ occasionally the 470s....."
