Only one cylinder has fire

I have a 85 mercury 150 xr2. I tried to run it the other day and it shut off just as i got past the no wake zone. I could not get it to crank back. When i got home i check if it was getting fire and only one cylinder has fire. What could be the problem? It's strange that 5 out of 6 cylinders do not have fire.

Need to check stator.......go to CDI electronics and get troubleshooting guide.

Thanks for the help faztbullet. I checked everything and came to the conclusion that my switch box is bad. I checked the resistance on the trigger and the stator and both are within spec. After switching the switch boxes around i got it to fire on 3 cylinders.

Check bias circuit on packs as one of them is bad most likely....
