"Hello everyone,

It has been a while, but I am back with a new problem. My Onan generator starts and runs smoothly for about 2 or 3 minutes, then starts to misfire and backfire. I checked and cleaned the spark plugs but they didn't look bad. Onan parts are very expensive ($96.00 for a spark plug lead) so I want to pinpoint the problem before buying parts. How can I tell if it's a fuel problem or an ignition problem? It seems to happen when the engine warms up. I appreciate any wisdom you can give me.

Thanks,

Capnjim"

those plug wires are overrated.
They are solid metal core with braided shielding and funny screws nut ends with sealed rubber ends for water tightness.
I bet you could switch out the coil to a standard auto coil, use standard wires and share the spark to both cylinders.
make your own spark wire.
But likely nothing is wrong with your wires or coil. The points can get dirty and need to be filed or replaced.

check your wires with an ohm meter.
