I blew my volvo penta and would like to repower with chevy/omc. I have a fresh 350 and I need to know what I need for a marine conversion and what type of drive I need to look for. The boat is a Bayliner Explorer.

I do not know why you would want swap a Penta for
an OMC though. Most people are trying to go other way and get away from the obsolete OMC drives."

"we have a 1971 trisonic we are in the process of repowering the boat, we have an inline 6 chevy 292 with 120 hours on it my question is can an omc 400 model#981871 handle this motor? this outdrive came out of a 1989 boat with 40 hours on it,the gear ratio is 1.65-1"

and no - OMC 400 only good to 150HP, a marine 292 is 200HP.."
