"I CHANGED MY OIL FOR THE FIRS

"I CHANGED MY OIL FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I BOUGHT THE BOAT A COUPLE MONTHS AGO, I HAVE A 83' MERC 3.0, THE OIL SMELLS LIKE GAS REALLY STRONG, I WAS TOLD MY RINGS ARE BAD BUT I HAVE NO SMOKE OR OIL BURN WHEN RUNNING."
 
More like a bad fuel pump. you

More like a bad fuel pump. you should have a plastic line from the pump to the carb body. see if any liquid is in it. sign of a leaking diaphram in the fuel pump

Good point Bt. Doctor. Just to add to it; on old pumps the nipple on the pump for the plastic line can become plugged w/varnished gas from a small leak. Remove the plastic tube and stick a toothpick in it and clear it; then spray carb cleaner inside the nipple to get all the crap out so that a leaking diaphragm will blow gas out the line into the carb.
