"I have a 1982 jonson 60, i took it out on the water last week with no problems, but yesterday I noticed oil leaking out of this pinhole right below the water inlet where you would put the muffs on. the pinhole has always been there and never leaked oil before, i drained the oil from the gearcase and at first i got a steady stream of water, then the oil started. Im going to pull the lower unit today but just wanted an idea of what seal could be causing this. your advice is very much apreciated. thanx"

"Chase, A pressure test is the only way to know. Some get by with prop shaft seal, but if it's a different seal it is probally best to put in a whole seal kit. Brian"

"thank you very much for the information, I removed the whole lower unit today and it looks to be that it is the prop shaft seal. But the motor and boat sat for 10 years before I purchased it last year so I think well I have it all apart, im going to do a whole seal kit so I dont have to take it apart again."
