Oil leaking between Gearcase and Exhaust house in 1979 70hp outboard

I noticed in a hole at the intersection of the gearcase and exhaust house on my 1979 evinrude 70 hp outboard. Any thoughts on what this might be?

Thanks so would this be caused by the gearcase oil? Or coming from the fuel line?

It is water that has gone through the engine, done it's job, and is headed back to the sea anyway, so no problem. There is some intermixing with the oily exhaust which is cooled by the same water.

Relax, it isn't gearcase oil. But that's no guarantee you don't have a leak elsewhere. So check the oil anyway as regular maintenance.
