Oil Leak Problem

I’m restoring a 1958 Johnson Seahorse 10
(QD-19) with an oil/water leak coming from the water bypass cover.
I’ve replaced the propeller shaft
gear case/bearing seal, o-ring, rope seal, and used gasket cement before reinstalling.
Also replaced was the shift rod o-ring, the seal and gasket under the impeller, both
o-rings on the impeller housing spacer, and the water tube grommet. When I remove the gear case extension, it’s pretty messy in there too. Could I have done something wrong or missed something altogether? Thanks for the help.

Normal for sludge on a 24:1 motor to show up as a mess in there.-----Checked this motor for loose wrist pin bushings ?

Thanks racerone for your suggestion.
The crankshaft parts diagram does not show the use of wrist pin bushings, just the pins. How would this contribute to an oil leak for this application?

A common problem was loose wristpin bushings in the QD from 1949 to 1960.-----Just making you aware of this issue.-----Good luck with your motor.
