No start, 'groung' wire burned up?

I have a Yamaha 25 4 stroke F25eshd.

Well, as I have done a thousand times over the years I connected my battery backwards. No big deal, right? It sparked and I went to swap the cables around. I smelled a burning smell and looked down and what I am guessing is some sort of grounding wire (pic 1) View attachment 17085was glowing red and burned through. It quit when I disconnected the battery. This did not happen when I connected the battery correctly.
I looked at the fuse in the engine (pic 2) View attachment 17083and the fuse was blown. I changed the fuse but still get no fire from the starter.
Am I going to have to take off the lower unit to replace the wire that burned up? Is there any other thing I need to be checking?
Hard to believe that just hooking the battery up backwards can do all that damage.
Any hope would be great! Thanks!!
