no power on full throttle 125 hp 1988?

Hi i have a Bayliner capri with a 125 force outboard 1988?
When i put full throttle on the engine dies down and won't go over 5mph
the boat did back fire a couple of times but started ok. Also some fuel was coming out the carbs, any ideas as to the problem, cheers toddy.

Possibly the backfire blew the fuel pump diaphram.Or even the reeds.
Do a compression/spark test.Then check the fuel system.
Check these things and post your results.J

i have the same boat ,motor and problem i replaced plugs and ignition coil packs still not moving i lifted it out of the water with the motor down and it seems i have a fuel leak and the motor does sound like its not getting enough fuel any suggestions out there i dont have the manual so i cant even diagnose it

Junior219 You should start your own thread.Go to the library they have or can get the manual to start you on the right track.
Do what I told toddy and post your results.J
