1995 four Winns 5.0 OMC
I had to pull the shift arm due to problems with the trim switch and now I cannot reliably shift into gear. The arm was very difficult to remove even though I pulled the set screw because it look like the upholstery guy forced it off and on. It has worked fine for several outings before I had to pull the switch.
The cables do not seem to have much resistance and it is not hard to shift if I hold out on the button ( the rubber boot is long gone). If i do not hold the button out it looks like an invisible finger pushes it as I shift from neutral to reverse. It did this for both forward and reverse until I shifted it several times while holding the button out and not I only have the problem in reverse.
Any ideas?
