It would have been better to start a new thread so your question didn't get overlooked as part of the original one, but...

You have a Yamaha built Mariner. It is 100% Yamaha branded as a Mariner and sold by Mercury (there were some Merc-Mariners that were just Merc's - this is not one of them).

8M is the model indicating that it is an 8 horse that was (originally - and probably still) a "manual" - so rope start.

6G1 is the Yamaha (code) that indicates it is "mechanically" a Yamaha model "8C" that was first built in 1982.

S - short shaft model (15" transom)

021392 - the serial number part that indicates it was sold as a 1985 model 8C Mariner.

Parts are getting difficult to find for some of these Yami/Mariners. For your particular model the listings can be found here: http://www.marineengine.com/parts/mariner-outboard-parts/8c/6g1007990-thru-027237-m

If you scroll through some of the lists you will tend to see a lot more "unavailable" parts then ones that are available....
