I recently bought a boat ( '88-'89 Bayliner 2556) with a 5.7 engine and OMC outdrive. the outdrive has been replaced and other than knowing it is an omc, I cant figure out what model or year it is... the gear ratio has been determined to be 1.41-1 and it is a clutch dog model.
unless the output ratio has been changed, and as far as I can determine, the 1.41-1 ratio was not used in the cobra, but in the king cobra drive.
the outdrive works good and looks great, although the mounting collar and attaching hardware is pretty well pitted and corroded, but it has all been dependable so far.
the tag on the side of it says
model 983844
serial T0443778 but I cant find any information that shows any form of these numbers....
any help would be appreciated.... thanks
