Need Fuel Line AQ 140 A

"Hello,

I'm new to this

"Hello,

I'm new to this board .... have read comments here over the past few years. I have two Glasply boats for salmon fishing. Both Glasply's have AQ 140 A engines in them. Two years ago I bot a neglected Thompson boat ... it has an AQ 140 A engine that can serve as
a spare ... just in case I need it....
however, a few parts are missing from the engine
including the fuel line.

The line that I need has a hex fitting at the fuel pump..... then, runs to the right (stern)
makes an upward curve to the right hand carb...
then it travels to the left ....makes a complete
loop ....then connects to the left hand (forward)
carb .....

Thanks for your help on this.

"Bryanm,

Thanks for you rep

"Bryanm,

Thanks for you reply. Appreciate the help.

I'm stumped on this..... take a look at the
Volvo Penta drawing that you included....

VP only shows what I call the "Loop Line"...
my engines use the fuel line with a male
hex fitting on the fuel pump end .... not the
loop feature .....

I've search many places .... so, far I have only
found the "Loop Line" ..... I bot one last week
thinking that I might have to employ a shop to
cut it .....and somehow adapt it to my situation.

The "Loop Line" is a reverse of the line that I'm
seeking .... note that the "Loop Line" goes
up to the left carb ....then makes a circle....
and heads over to the right carb .... it's backwards from what I need .....

I still have the orginal paperwork on my Glasply
which I bot new in 1980 ....the glossy brochure
clearly shows the side view of my engine
with the fuel line running from the fuel pump
to the right carb .... then over to the left
hand carb.

Thanks for your help on this.

"Does anyone know where I can

"Does anyone know where I can pick up the
exact / correct size hex fitting that goes
onto the fuel pump end of the AQ 140 A
fuel line ????

I bot a used fuel line and plan on having a
hydraulics shop cut it ....and flare the end
of the line so that it fits into the fuel pump
.... the hex fitting holds the line in place....

I would certainly appreciate some help on this...

I called Volvo Penta ..... the gal on the phone
had no clue as to what I was talking about....
waste of time .....

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

"I'm surprised you even go

"I'm surprised you even got to ask your question, they don't awnser techincal questions. You are supose to ask the dealer, so they can tell you they have no clue

"Hello Bryanm

Well, it's all pretty strange .....

V/P doesn't even show the exact part that they
made and sold to me ..... via my Glasply that
I bot in early 1980 ...

I have the sales brochure which shows the various
V/ P engines..... 1980 ...... my engine is
shown ..... clear picture...... and the fuel
line that I need is clearly in the photo....

Anyway ..... I still need to find the part....

Ideas ?????

Thanks.

"John, I would suggest that if

"John, I would suggest that if you are going to let a hydraulics shop do the job, you can take the fuel pump with you and they should be able to supply the correct fitting. Alternatively, you could find (or fabricate) a 90º adapter: one of the threads to fit on the fuel pump, the other one the new fuel line.

There are many easy ways to deal with your situation. Most of them involve some sort of customization, so you just have to be creative (and safe: do not use inadequate materials)."

"Dear El Pescador

Thanks for your suggestions. I will probably
take the pump off ... after taking measurements... and take it to the shop along
with the "loop" line .... when they cut it,
they get one shot at it ... hopefully they get it
right ... clean cut .... proper flare....
nice fit .....no leaks... !

I want to do a first class job on this ...so we
don't have serious problems later.....

Thank you very much for your help.
