My fuel guage has stopped working.

Does anyone know what could cause this and is it easy to fix on my own. If it is a sender how can you check to see if it is working. I have a 2003 bayliner 265. Thanks

power to the gauge, pink wire goes to sender. gain tank access and using a ground wire from the battery and with the key to "on" touch the pink wire, gauge should go full, next touch the tank itself, gauge should show a level .If it works with the jumper ,your missing the tank ground.
