MPH & RPM

I recently installed a throttle cable on my 1998 Johnson 115. I now have
both MPH's & RPM's working intermitently at best. My questions is; Does the
screw drive wheel on the cable end connecteed to the engine have anything
to do with the operation of the MPH & RPM gauges?

the Speedometer and Tachometer are independent of the throttle cable.
